Since its incorporation in 1973, SIBA is registered with Registry of Society, the not-for- profit trade association that has been the pivotal force for change in the Singapore general insurance broking industry, promoting higher ethical professional standards, continuous education development and support for insurance brokers on legislative, regulatory and policy related matters. SIBA represents most of the licensed general insurance brokers which are a major stakeholder in insurance distribution managing more than 90% of the commercial insurance transacted in Singapore.

SIBA is a founding member of the Singapore  College of Insurance (SCI) with representation on the board of SCI.

At International level, SIBA is a member of the Asia Pacific Insurance Brokers Association (CAPIBA) and the World Federation of Insurance Intermediaries (WFII).
